Our now familiar view of Château d’Amboise from Le Shaker bar
During our 4 nights in Amboise, we visited Le Shaker twice for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the unsurpassed views of the town as the setting sun cast its rays on the walls of the castle.
Only en France can you go to a place for a pre-dinner drink and the ‘house’ champagne is Moët! They provided delicious accompanying complimentary nibbles, too – crudité and salmon mousse on toast. I always need something to tide me over till dinner in these ‘late to dine’ countries! They have over 140 cocktails to choose from, as well as the more traditional choices of champagne, wine, whiskeys, cognacs…the list goes on!
The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. They cater to a varied clientele – families with kids were there one afternoon, and they stay open very late, so those unencumbered with little ones, enjoyed their beverages into the morning.
